چکیده

A call admission control (CAC) scheme and a resource reservation estimation (RRE) method suitable for the wideband code division multiple access (W-CDMA) systems are proposed in this work. The proposed CAC scheme gives preferential treatment to high priority calls, such as handoff calls, by pre-reserving a certain amount of channel margin against the interference effect. It is called the interference guard margin (IGM) scheme. The amount of guard margin is determined by the measurement performed by the RRE module in base stations. Each RRE module dynamically adjusts the level of guard margin by referencing traffic conditions in neighboring cells based upon users’ requests. A comprehensive service model is adopted to accommodate the scenario of multiple services supported in the W-CDMA system. The service model of consideration includes not only mobile terminal’s service rate (source rate) but also different levels of priorities, mobility and rate adaptivity characteristics. Simulations are conducted with OPNET to study the performance of the proposed scheme in term of the objective function under different traffic conditions.

Dynamic call admission control and resource reservation with interference guard margin (IGM) for CDMA systems

A dynamic call admission control and resource reservation scheme suitable for CDMA system is proposed. Preferential treatment is given to high priority calls by prereserving an interference guard margin (IGM), which is dynamically adjusted by referencing traffic conditions in neighboring cells based upon users’ quality of service. A comprehensive service model is used including users’ service r...

Capacity analysis of uplink and downlink in multimedia DS-CDMA Systems based on constraint models

Capacity analysis in wireless communication systems is essential for system design, call admission control and radio resource allocation. Since CDMA is a kind of powerconstrained or interference-limited system, its system capacity is not so “hard” as in bandwidth-limited systems, such as TDMAbased systems. In this paper, we analyze the uplink and downlink capacity of multimedia DS-CDMA systems ...

Call Admission Control for Reducing Dropped Calls in Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) Cellular Systems

Call admission control algorithms that reduce dropped calls in CDMA cellular systems are discussed in this paper. The capacity of a CDMA system is confined by interference of users from both inside and outside of the target cell. Earlier algorithms for call admission control is based on the effective traffic load for the target cell if one call is accepted. These algorithms ignore the interfere...

A New Call Admission Control Scheme Based on Mobile Position Estimation in DS-CDMA Systems

Call dropping is considered more annoying than call blocking in wireless cellular networks. The cost of the classical method of employing guard channels to decrease the call dropping rate is the increase in call blocking rate. Since subscriber mobility changes in time, the number of handoff attempts in each cell is subject to fluctuations, making static assignments (or periodical update) of a g...

Genetic-Algorithms-Based Fuzzy Call Admission Control for CDMA Cellular Systems

Wireless personal communication systems grow very fast, and the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system has become the key technology for multiple accesses in the third generation communication systems. Unlike conventional FDMA and TDMA systems, the capacity of CDMA is limited by the interference. Moreover, the quality of the wireless communications varies with the terrain and the location,...
